As always, the opposition is extremely critical during the General Deliberations, and that is no different today. Splinter party EenUtrecht (one seat) goes the furthest in this regard. Party chairman Gert Dijkstra: “This is a disastrous plan by the council. A technical mess of figures with one goal, structural savings of 93.4 million euros,” he said in the debate. In his view, there is nothing in it about what this will mean for the people of Utrecht and he calls that shocking. “With this spring memorandum, this council is copying the new right-wing government in The Hague.”
