Things went wrong earlier in the afternoon. The debate should be about the demonstrations, the riots, the occupation of university buildings and the police actions. Some parties in the council, including DENK and Bij1 in particular, emphatically take sides in the conflict in Gaza. There, the Israeli army and terrorist organization Hamas are fighting against each other, after the bloody attack by Hamas on October 7 last year. The battle in Gaza is also bloody and therefore terrible, everyone in the council agrees on that. But that’s not what this debate started for.
