A 28-year-old skis in the At Ski Team Vilma Jylhä From Juvala and 25 years old Emmi Lämsä From the tower. They have already represented Finland in the skiing World Cup.
A 23-year-old was also selected for the team Eveliina Toivanen of chemistry, Emmi Henriksson (19) From Lempäälä and Olivia Puranen (16) From Jyväskylä.
According to Tuisku, those selected have enthusiasm, are dedicated to the development of skiing and want to progress on their own sports path.
– We specifically set out to found a team. All those selected also wanted to train together and do things together.
More than a hundred applications were submitted for the team, of which Antti Tuisku and the AT Ski Team board narrowed down ten. At the very last meters, half of the crowd was eliminated based on video presentations and interviews.
Antti Tuisku, who jumped from the music world to a sports career, said last winter that he is aiming for a freestyle skiing competition at the World Championships and will start his own skiing club.
Skiers are waiting for a new step in their career
All the skiers selected for the new ski club say that they are looking forward to the camps and the upcoming season. The first camp is currently going on in Rovaniemi at the Santasport Lap sport school.
The team’s most experienced skiers Vilma Jylhä and Emmi Lämsä are both looking forward to the upcoming season.
– I have positive expectations. I expect that this team and club will provide good support for my skiing career, says Vilma Jylhä.
Eveliina Toiva was drawn to the new skiing club by the idea of working together and the strong background.
– I will definitely get help growing and developing my own athlete brand, Toivanen lists his expectations.
The coaching lessons that come through the team are also important for all five skiers, because the camps organized in Rovaniemi employ several professionals.
Financial support and camps with professional guidance are available
Antti Tuisku, who put his successful music career on the shelf, promises the skiers of his new team quite significant subsidies.
– We are offering everyone 4,000 euros worth of financial help. In addition to that, we have 20 camp days during this one season in Rovaniemi at Santasport. We also have ready partnerships that skiers will certainly benefit from, says Antti Tuisku.
According to Tuisku, at the moment, interest in the club can be seen, for example, on social media.
– AT Ski Team seems to be currently the most followed Ski Club in Finland on the social media side. It gives opportunities to build commercial cooperation patterns and in brand building, adds Tuisku.
Vilma Jylhä believes that the whole team will benefit from the recognition of the founder of the ski club.
– Well, this is a very unique club in Finland. It would have been stupid not to apply. I had a similar feeling right at the point when Antti published this, that it was really worth applying for this.
Strong excellence is also available
AT Ski Team also includes the top skiing coach Reijo Jylhä. Vilma Jylhä was surprised by the presence of the former skiing national team coach. Despite their last name, the Jylhäs are not related.
– We have a really high-quality coach in the team, and besides that, there are a lot of experts who really want to invest in us.
Reijo Jylhä works as a professional coach for the team during the camps, and he is also Antti Tuisku’s personal coach.
– I am responsible for the content of the camps held at Santasport and the coordination of their implementation. We have good and competent staff, so we make use of their expertise when necessary.
According to him, the skiers’ own coaches still have the greatest responsibility for the coaching of their protégés.
– Together with the coaches, we then think together about how the training has gone, whether the development has progressed and whether the training has been successful.
Antti Tuisku believes that good results can be achieved with selected skiers.
– Yes, AT Sk Team’s women’s relay team can do really well in the WC and Finnish Cup competitions. The team already has two skiers who have represented Finland in the World Cup, and one also has a SM medal.
