Soccer: Christian Eriksen sank Sweden at the Park

EC upload for Denmark in Copenhagen. Then it was an intense start with two goals in nine minutes.

Already in the second minute, Pierre Höjbjerg slotted in a corner from close range. Nightmare start for Sweden, who however bounced back quickly. Already seven minutes later, Alexander Isak stepped forward when he equalized to make it 1–1.

Men’s national football team

  • Victor Nilsson Lindelöf: “Fought to come back”

  • Jon Dahl Tomasson: “I will not run around on the pitch”

  • In a match that meant nothing more than points for the world ranking, SVT Sports expert Daniel Nannskog saw two Swedish stars who stepped forward. He believes that both Dejan Kulusevski and Alexander Isak show more in the game than before.

    – Both Kulusevski and Isak have been given a new lease of life with Jon Dahl Tomasson. They have been very enterprising. Has pulled the offense together in a good way, he says.

However, it was not enough to cross for Sweden against EC charging Denmark. With four minutes remaining, Christian Eriksen thundered in 2-1 from distance, which was the last goal of the match.

    – Super class. Feels like Robin Olsen was overlooked in the goal. He (Christian Eriksen) puts that curl in very skillfully because he knows Robin is going to be overlooked. Class goal, says Nannskog.

Despite the loss, national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson still sees glimmers of light after the match.

    – A sold-out park is always difficult. I saw a team that still performed quite well. We should have scored at the beginning of the second half, he notes.
