Fleeing cannabis smoker who sped across Lekdijk at 120 kmh

Lopikerkapel – Three months ago it must have looked like a chase scene from a spectacular action movie. A white Audi, chased by police cars and a helicopter, sped 120 kilometers over the Lekdijk between Nieuwegein and Lopikerkapel. The 27-year-old German who was behind the wheel was driving without a driver’s license. He had smoked and there was a nice stash of weed in the car. To escape the pursuing officers, he squeezed past a police bus on a narrow bridge. It suffered significant damage as a result. The court sentenced the man to a fine of 2,000 euros and a suspended prison sentence of two weeks for his dangerous driving behavior and drug possession.
