As the creator of the series, Leslye Headlands, explained in an interview with Linternaute, “if you know the legend, the canon events, if you have seen Clone Wars, if you’ve seen the prequels, there are winks in the evening. But it’s a very simple entry point to this universe. You don’t need to know the universe Star Wars to watch this series. As long as you know what a Jedi is, you can enjoy and follow the series.” If you really haven’t followed anything, just know that a Jedi is a knight who studies and serves the mystical energy that is the Force, and especially its “luminous” side. He fights with a lightsaber.
The Acolyte counts in its cast Lee Jung-jae, the star of Squid Gamewho plays a Jedi Master and will opposite Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, Hunger Games). Carie-Anne Moss (Matrix), Jodie Turner-Smith (Anne Boleyn), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Charlie Barnett (Russian doll) or even Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials) are also there. For the record, Joonas Suotamo, who played Chewbacca in the third trilogy and in the spin-off Solo: A Star Wars Storydons the costume to play another Wookie.
What is the plot of Star Wars: The Acolyte ?
Set in a time long before the Skywalker family, The Acolyte takes us a century before the events of Star Wars: Episode I, during the last days of the High Republic era. Billed as a mystery thriller, the series discusses emerging powers from the dark side. To investigate a series of crimes, a former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master, but they must confront powers much more formidable than they thought.
