Marvel star Jeremy Renner yelled at action director who wanted to kill his character

This week, Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner made his big return to the screen. He is currently appearing in the third season of his series Mayor Of Kingstown on Paramount+ after surviving a near-fatal accident in which he broke 38 bones.

On the big screen, the Marvel star avoided a fictional death in a completely different way – by simply not appearing for the sequel, in which his film character should die.

In the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Renner (via Deadline ) explains in a very good mood why he did not return to Mission: Impossible 6 – Fallout as Agent William Brandt after Mission: Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol and Mission: Impossible 5 – Rogue Nation. He explains mischievously:

I remember them trying to fly me out for a week or so, just to kill my characterand I said: No, you can’t do that. […] If you do that and use my character like that, you’re doing it right.

Renner’s reservations about filming in faraway London also had to do with his daughter, who was still very young at the time and didn’t want to be without her father unnecessarily. Renner laughed and explained in the interview: “I shouted [Regisseur Christopher McQuarrie] at: Dude, you can’t do that to me. You can’t treat me like that.”

It is completely impossible Renner’s return to the Mission: Impossible franchise but not at all, as he himself suggests. Especially now that his daughter is a little older and he is slowly on the road to recovery. Mission: Impossible 8 is currently being filmed. From the 9th film onwards at the latest, Agent Brandt could appear again alongside action agent Hunt (Tom Cruise).

Renner told Collider earlier: “I love these guys. I love Tom so much. We had so much fun and I love the character. It does require a lot of time away from home though.”
