who the full load of dystopian sci-fi action should switch on the television tonight. Then, with Judge Dredd and Dredd, two representatives of the genre will be on TV, one of which clearly tops the other.

On TV: Sylvester Stallone thinks first Judge Dredd film was a huge mistake

Judge Dredd by director Danny Cannon is based on the comic book of the same name and revolves around a post-apocalyptic future in which crime is kept in check by so-called judges. The judges are Judge, jury and executioner in one person.

In 2008, lead actor Sylvester Stallone spoke again about the sci-fi film during a John Rambo press conference and said honestly and harshly:

I think the biggest mistake I ever made was the sloppy implementation of Judge Dredd.

Nowadays, most people just see the first Judge Dredd film as an amusing trash fest.

Second Dredd film adaptation is a furious action-fest

The second Dredd film adaptation from 2012 did much better, although it failed commercially. The film by director Pete Travis is based on a similar story, but with The Boys star Karl Urban it is much more convincing than a cracking Genre mix of sci-fi dystopia and action with stylish pictures.

When will the two sci-fi films be shown on TV?

NITRO broadcasts Judge Dredd on June 4, 2024 from 8:15 p.m. The much better Dredd follows immediately afterward at 10 p.m. Unfortunately, you can’t watch the first film with Sylvester Stallone anywhere with a streaming flat rate at the moment. You can rent or buy the newer Dredd film from 2012 on Amazon Prime or Apple TV, for example.
