“May endanger life”

May endanger life

Östra sjukhuset, which is part of Sahlgrenska University Hospital, will reduce the number of care places somewhat. The emergency room will also be closed between June 4 and June 10.

– Those who need emergency medical care will have to apply to either Mölndal hospital or Sahlgrenska if you need medical care, which means that it will be more full there, says Mattias Bjarnegård, area manager at the Eastern hospital.

The health union’s strike applies to the university hospitals in Stockholm, Västra Götaland, Skåne, Östergötland and Västerbotten, as well as Södersjukhuset and Danderyd hospital.

“Safe places of care”

At Skåne University Hospital in Malmö, “advanced emergency care places will largely disappear”, the hospital states. In Lund, various forms of advanced X-ray will stop completely.

“A strike would also mean a significant increase in the transport of patients between hospitals, which could mean danger to life and health,” wrote the chief physician Sven Karlsson in a written comment to TT last week.

At the university hospital in Linköping, care is limited to emergency care and care that cannot wait.

— Planned care where you need a care place, we have to cancel this week. It is the care places we need to secure access to and this is the decision for this week, says Ninnie Borendal Wodlin, care director in Region Östergötland.

Longer waiting times

In addition to the strike that breaks out on Tuesday, the Health Care Confederation has added a notice to June 11, which covers an additional 1,900 people. It also includes Region Västmanland and Region Värmland as well as a number of care and health centres.

Mattias Bjarnegård at Östra sjukhuset emphasizes, however, that it is important that patients do not refrain from seeking care if they are in need of it.

— But some patients will have to wait longer for treatment. It is an effect of the strike, he says.
