The Attorney General is appealing a verdict on serious child pornography offenses to the Supreme Court.

The man was sentenced to a year and nine months in prison after having hundreds of images and videos of abuse material, which he also spread further. According to the prosecutor, a large part of the material is particularly reckless.

The public prosecutor instead wants the man to be sentenced to at least three years in prison.

“There is a need for guidance from the Supreme Court on what starting points should apply to the sentencing of serious child pornography crimes, among other things in terms of the importance of the nature, amount and format of the child pornography material and the perpetrator’s handling method,” says Attorney General Katarina Johansson Welin in a press release.
