An industrial secret that has been secretly kept for all these years, this Dyson Zone once again proves the desire of the British company to diversify into connected objects, with this notion of fighting against the great evils of our world today. today: noise, pollution and germs. We remember that Razer created its anti-COVID mask equipped with chroma RGB, so it’s Dyson’s turn to show us how we combine the pleasure of listening with the possibility of breathing well in large metropolises around the world. And if Dyson’s helmet makes no mention of anti-COVD use, it’s because the project started many years before the arrival of the viral pandemic.
First, the Dyson Zone is a helmet on-ear which aims to isolate us from all the noise pollution that can attack us on a daily basis, especially if we live in a big city. Like the major manufacturers of noise reduction headphones, the Dyson device has no less than 8 microphones that pick up outside noise and then cancel it. If the audio part is not developed in the press release, it is to focus on all the technology that has been put in place to filter the air. We therefore learn that the Dyson Zone is equipped with two batteries located at the level of its arch, but that each headset contains neodymium speakers in which there are compressors which recover the ambient air, filter it and then send it towards the mouth of the user. Dyson claims a filtration level of 99% through the use of potassium-enriched carbon filters. Here again, it is a question of several years of reflection to combine this technology and in the video presentation of the helmet, we see that the first prototypes integrated a snorkel which connected the helmet to the mouth of the user. If Dyson admits having let a subcontractor take care of all the audio part (which is not well detailed in the press release), the whole air purification system was managed internally, with all the know-how of the brand known for its vacuum cleaners, fans and other hair dryers which often cost a fortune when you don’t have to resell a kidney to pay for one. According to the spec sheet, the Dyson Zone would offer a
40 hours of audio and 6 hours of use when headphones and air purification are used together. Currently, only The Verge website was able to test this Dyson Zone which seems to keep its promises. The only black point mentioned lies in the noise of the filtration system which unfortunately remains audible, and which will therefore have to be corrected so as not to affect its use. For the moment, no price has been communicated, but Dyson announces marketing during the year 2023 without further details. Of course, you should know that this is in no way an April Fool’s Day, since the device is presented on the official website of the manufacturer.
