Ons Jabeur, world number 9, 29 years old, will join the American Coco Gauff, finalist in 2022, who fell earlier in the day against the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the next round. Coco Gauff, third in the world, took only 60 minutes to dismiss Cocciaretto (51st) 6-1, 6-2.
Ons Jabeur and Coco Gauff have already faced each other six times, only once at Roland-Garros (2021) where the young American, defending champion at the US Open, took the upper hand 6-3, 6-1 in the round of 16.
“She’s an extraordinary player, winner of the US Open, she’s a real fighter so I hope I can do some of my magic”declared Ons Jabeur, a few minutes after his victory against Tauson, acquired in just over an hour and a half on the Suzanne-Lenglen court.
In six appearances at the Paris tournament, Jabeur has never managed to reach the semi-finals.
