SMHI warns of torrential rain throughout southern Sweden.
Thunder and torrential rain cause it in Blekinge. A fire broke out in Karlshamn when lightning struck a villa.
– We receive calls that water is flowing in here and there, the rescue service’s command operator tells BLT.
It looks like it will be a terrible Sunday evening in the southern parts of Sweden.
SMHI has issued a yellow warning for torrential rain – for the third day in a row.
The warning area stretches across the country, from Uddevalla and Linköping in the north to Ystad in the south. The warning is valid until 22:00 tonight.
Heavy thunder and showers are expected, which can produce large amounts of rain in a short time. In places it can reach up to 50 millimeters.
In Blekinge, the storm moved in early in the afternoon. The emergency services are busy dealing with alarms about flooded basements and water damage in Karlshamn, Karlskrona and Ronneby. It barely has time to answer Aftonbladet’s questions when we call.
At 2 p.m., nearly 1,800 households in the county were without power, according to P4 Blekinge. Just before 4 p.m., there were almost 800.

The power went on at Ica
At 2 p.m., the power went out at Ica Maxi in Asarum, BLT reports.
– There was so much noise in the building that you thought you were outside. Finally the power went out. After 30 seconds it was light again in the premises, it is unclear if the power came back or if it was the spare unit, a witness told the newspaper.
Shortly after 2 p.m., a fire started in a villa in Karlshamn after a lightning strike, reports SVT News Blekinge.
By 3 p.m. the fire had been brought under control.
– They have put out the fire, and are now ventilating and ensuring that it has not spread, says the management operator of the rescue service.
