The “Downsizing 101: Where to Begin?” workshop will guide participants through some essential steps before they make a
move.

It will feature Kelly-Anne Appleton and Dane Appleton, both realtors with Royal LePage Peifer Realty, and Sue Hawkins, of Clutter Busters Professional Home Organizers.

“The senior population is the fastest growing age group in the country, so it’s no wonder that downsizing, moving to a smaller home or apartment, is a hot topic,” organizers stated in a release. “The idea of downsizing can feel overwhelming and it’s hard to know where to begin. There seems to be so much to do, listing and selling your home, decluttering, purging and packing, finding the perfect new smaller home.

“Add to that the physical and emotional toll of moving and the challenge of designing and decorating your new spaces, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Maybe you are just beginning to consider a move to a smaller space or maybe you are well on your way.”

The workshop will help provide answers, solutions, tips and expert advice on moving from your current home into a smaller space.

People will also have a chance to take a look at some of the new-build options for downsizing in Chatham. Giveaways and refreshments will be available.

The June 13 event takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Royal LePage Peifer Realty, 425 McNaughton Ave. W., in Chatham.
