Needle particles were forgotten in the skull of Salih Aktaş, who had spinal cord surgery in a hospital on April 25, 2007. The second shock to Aktaş, who took the situation to the judiciary, came from the expert panel. In the expert report, which stated that there was no fault in the incident, it was stated that the needle particles were beneficial to the human body. Aktaş, who sued the doctors, first won 8 thousand TL. However, when the doctors took the issue to the Supreme Court, Aktaş was found to be 20 thousand TL in debt and his salary was seized.
Stating that his health and psychology were deteriorating, Aktaş wanted to have the needle particles removed on the grounds that they were causing him constant headaches. Claiming that all doors were closed to him for surgery in Turkey, Aktaş began to look for a solution abroad. The needle particles in Aktaş’s head, who moved to Germany for treatment, were not removed there either, on the grounds that it would be a risky surgery.
Stating that he was living in Izmir at that time and that his treatment process had been continuing abroad for many years, Salih Aktaş said, “I went to the hospital to have a spinal cord surgery. During the surgery, two needles were forgotten in my skull. I learned that one was 1 mm and the other was 1.5 mm. The needles are still in my skull.” When my pain increased, I went to the doctor again. But when I went for the MRI, the doctor there said, ‘You have platinum in your head, we can’t remove it.’ I immediately went to my doctor and explained the situation. The doctor did a CT scan, but he didn’t give me the results. “When I said that, I suspected this. I had a CT scan done by other doctors. The doctors here said that a needle was forgotten in my skull.”

“They almost accused me,” said Aktaş, “Then I filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office. The case went to an expert, and the expert declared that there was no fault in this incident. All I want is for my treatment to be done as soon as possible. What I want is not to be rich, “To get rid of these needles,” he said.

Aktaş, who claimed that his eardrum was removed without his permission at another hospital he went to due to earache, said that he now has no hearing in his right ear. Noting that he currently lives in Austria and came to Denizli in the summer, Aktaş said:
“I took my hope abroad. I wanted to have the needles removed from my head. They said it was too risky and I could die, but they didn’t take it. I am experiencing a lot of pain. My only request from the authorities is that they find a solution to my problem. I’m in so much pain”. (UAV)
