The trees have been felled for the construction of a new access road to the Eemklooster, which is being renovated. The trees were going to be cut down for the construction anyway, but that happened without the correct permit. This is considered illegal logging. The Regional Implementation Service Utrecht (RUD) has investigated it and does not consider it necessary to go to the Public Prosecution Service. They do check whether the replanting is going well.
