On Thursday, Trump became the first former president in US history to receive a criminal conviction. Jury finds Trump guilty of falsifying accounting after paying adult entertainer to keep quiet by Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
In his press conference at Trump Tower in New York, Trump, who is running for president again, called the trial political and unfair, barked the president Joe Bidencalled the sentencing judge a devil and painted threatening images of “illegal immigrants”.
Appeal the sentence
Trump denied that he was guilty of a crime and announced that he would appeal the sentence. However, he will have to wait until the sentence is read to him on July 11. After this, Trump has 30 days to announce his appeal and six months to submit the appeal in its entirety.
In a speech that lasted more than half an hour, Trump falsely said that the Biden administration had controlled the trial. He also called the judge Juan M. Mercania devil and said he was biased. Trump threatened that the final verdict will be given in the November 5 presidential election.
– If they can do this to me, they can do this to everyone. These are bad people, and I believe in many cases sick people, says Trump.
As usual, the 77-year-old Trump acknowledged the 81-year-old Biden’s age.
– I have been gagged by a man who cannot form two sentences, Trump says, referring to Biden.
– Just so you understand, this is all the work of Biden and his team. Maybe more his team, I don’t know if Biden knows much about it, because I don’t know if he knows much about anything.
A key witness in the trial, Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen got a full-on from Trump. It was Cohen who paid porn star Stormy Daniels the famous swindling money.
– I’m not allowed to say his name because of the gag order. But you know, he’s a slimehead. Everybody knows that, Trump said.
Biden: Trump is desperate
President Biden recently commented on finding Trump guilty and his speech.
According to Biden, Trump was given “every opportunity to defend himself”. Biden said that jurors in Trump’s trial were selected in the same way as in any other trial, and that Trump’s own attorney was part of that process. He also stated that Trump’s trial shows that no one is above the law.
According to Biden, Trump is not suitable for the presidency.
– America just got to watch a confused, desperate and beaten Donald Trump ranting about his personal problems and lying about the American justice system, Biden says.
An avalanche of money for the Trump campaign
Trump’s presidential election campaign used the court decision, which he called tampered with, in fundraising. In an appeal to donors, the campaign called Trump a political prisoner.
The criminal conviction triggered an avalanche of donations to Trump’s presidential campaign. According to Trump’s campaign, immediately after the jury’s decision, the campaign received $34.8 million in donations in an instant. The spike in donations was so great that the campaign’s fundraising website crashed.
