The Final Shape: Everything you need to know about preload

How do I prepare now? To prepare for the launch of The Final Shape, you should preload the game.

Bungie will be performing maintenance before the DLC is released, but you will have the option to download the DLC in advance. This way, you can jump right into the action after maintenance and don’t have to wait for the download.

When does the preload start? The Final Shape will officially be released on June 4, 2024. Maintenance will start on June 3, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. and end on June 4, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. As soon as Destiny 2 goes offline, the preload will be available on all platforms.

For The Final Shape you need a lot of storage space

How big will The Final Shape be? It varies depending on which platform you play Destiny 2 on.

This is how much storage space you need (rounded up):

  • PlayStation 5: 144GB
  • PlayStation 4: 130GB
  • Xbox Series X/S: 166GB
  • Xbox One: 140GB
  • Steam: Almost 300 GB
  • Microsoft Store: 157GB
  • Epic Games Store: 277GB
  • Why does it take so much? The PC version on Steam and Epic Games needs so much because both the old and the new version of the game are downloaded. This means that you need a lot of storage space for now – but after the launch the old version will be removed and you will have more space again.
