Far-right activist and politician Michael Stürzenberger was attacked with a knife during his protests in Mannheim, Germany today. It was announced that there were injured people in the incident, including a police officer, and that the police shot and injured the attacker.
HE STABBED EVERYONE IN FRONT OF HIM
Far-right activist and politician Michael Stürzenberger, leader of the German Freedom Party (AfD) between 2013 and 2016, and some people from the Bürgerbewegung Pax Europa (BPE) movement organized a protest in Mannheim today. During the action, a knife-wielding attacker attacked and injured Stürzenberger and some members of the BPE movement.
In the images spread on social media, it was seen that the attacker was shot by the police while stabbing a police officer in the neck.
THE ATTACKER WAS NEUTRALIZED
In the statement made by the Bürgerbewegung Pax Europa (BPE) movement regarding the incident, it was stated that Michael Stürzenberger, a police officer and some members of the BPE movement were stabbed in Mannheim this morning.
Mannheim police made the following statements in their statement about the incident:
“Today around 11.35, many people were attacked in the market square in Mannheim. A person attacked and injured many people with a knife. There is no information yet on the extent and severity of injuries. A firearm was then used against the attacker. As a result, the attacker was also injured. In addition to rescue and emergency services, a rescue helicopter is also on duty. There is no danger to the public. Rail traffic between Kurpfalzkreisel and Paradeplatz is closed until further notice.”
