Apple is beginning a new shift and is actively looking for an engineer to develop its Apple TV+ application on Android.
Faced with giants like Netflix, Disney+ or even Amazon Prime, it is difficult for Apple to find its place. Even by increasing its services, the Cupertino company remains lacking visibility for its Apple TV streaming application. But a step seems not far from being reached and it concerns users of an Android smartphone.
It’s a sign that makes no mistake and was spotted by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman on the evening of May 29, 2024. job offer published on May 25 in the section “Job” from Apple’s official website suggests that an Apple TV+ application is in preparation for Android smartphones.
More concretely, the streaming application team is looking for a “Android Software Engineer – Apple Tv App“, as stated in the job title. The job description mentions the fact of “lead the development of fun new features, and help build an app used by millions to watch and discover TV and sports“.
As a reminder, Apple TV+ services provide access to numerous resources such as series, films, sports and many others for 9.99 euros per month in France. Until now, the application is only developed for devices with Apple technology. It is also possible to use online streaming services or connected televisions which are equipped with the application. You can consider enjoying Apple Tv+ from Google Tv and Android Tv services. However, it is already possible to enjoy the application on your Android smartphone online but no application is dedicated at the moment.
Today, Android represents 70% of the world’s mobile operating system market with no less than 3 billion users worldwide. This extension to Android mobile phones should aim to considerably increase the number of subscribers to Apple TV+ services.
