Diablo 4 adjusts gold costs for masterworking

The changes in costs in detail:

  • Ranks 1-4: Unchanged.
  • Rank 5: reduced from 450,000 to 400,000
  • Rank 8: reduced from 1,000,000 to 800,000
  • Rank 12: reduced from 10,000,000 to 2,500,000
  • In particular, at the highest rank 12, the gold cost has been reduced to a quarter of the original cost. The developers write in explanation of the changes:

We want the primary driver for masterworking to be focused on acquiring materials rather than the need for gold. We want to avoid the possibility of having the materials but having to spend extra time gathering the gold.
