The US has suspended all aid shipments via the temporary emergency pier that the military built in Gaza. Heavy weather with rough seas has damaged the pier, and part of the bridge structure came loose.
– The reconstruction and repair of the pier will take at least a week. After that, the pier must be re-anchored off the coast of Gaza, Defense Headquarters Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said on Tuesday.
The pier, constructed by the US military, has faced several setbacks since it was constructed in an effort to bring emergency aid to Gaza’s civilians.
In the weekend’s stormy waters, moorings came loose for four ships anchored at the pier. Two ran aground on the Gaza Strip, while two floated along the coast and ran aground five miles south of Tel Aviv.
The pier is to be towed to Ashdod in Israel for repair.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson calls on Israel to stop the offensive, he writes on X.
“Very worrying that today Israel entered Rafah’s city center with tanks. Many of us see great risks of further civilian deaths, as in Sunday’s attack on a tent camp. Sweden and the EU expect Israel to follow the decision of the International Court of Justice and stop the offensive in Rafah to protect civilians”.

The medical association at Sahlgrenska University Hospital has collected reports from doctors about how this year’s savings are worsening care.
The most serious are about missed diagnoses, medical injuries, premature discharges and even deaths due to staff shortages, write GP.
It should be as if doctors at the gastro unit, who believe that deficiencies in investigations for acute and subacute measures of liver disease have led to “a few deaths”, writes the newspaper.
– I think it is a strength of the document that there is so much, so that it is seen overall how big the problems are. Who wants to be operated on by a doctor who is not rested and able to think clearly? says Hanna Kataoka, chief physician at Sahlgrenska and president of the hospital’s medical association, to GP.
The reports have now been handed over to hospital director Boubou Hallberg.

Georgia has now hammered through the much-contested “agent law”, international media reports.
This after a majority in parliament trumped the president’s veto.
The law forces all organizations in Georgia that receive 20 percent or more of their income from abroad to be classified as “agents under foreign influence,” which brings extra scrutiny from the state.
President Salome Zourabichvili has called it a “Russian law” and believes that it goes against European standards. It has also been seen as very difficult for the country’s ambition to join the EU.
Aftonbladet was recently in Tblisi when tens of thousands of demonstrators filled the capital’s streets in protest against the law.

During a private meeting with bishops, Pope Francis is said to have used a derogatory term for homosexuals and said that homosexual men should not be allowed to become priests, several media reports.
Now the Vatican is apologizing and saying that the Pope never intended to offend anyone.
They also write that he has said many times before that “In the church there is room for everyone, for everyone! No one is useless, no one is superfluous, there is room for everyone. Just as we are, all of us”.

You should probably double check the stated temperatures in the post about the heat wave in Mexico City.
Eve
Hello Eva! I also thought it appeared like very low record temperatures in Mexico City, when we had 38 degrees in Målilla. But this 34.7 degrees actually seems to be the heat record in Mexico City, writes concurring international media. The fact that it doesn’t get warmer seems to be because the city is located in a valley at a very high altitude.
