Player finds a rare weapon after 500 hours, only available from a single enemy

Elden Ring contains over 300 weapons that can be used to take down bosses, big and small, in every way possible. But even after two years and countless hours, one player discovered a weapon that he had never seen before.

Which weapon is it? If you’re wandering through the intermediary lands of Elden Ring, you’d better be well equipped. After all, all kinds of dangers stand in your way, mostly in the form of dangerous enemies.

When it comes to weapons in Elden Ring, you’re spoiled for choice. You can find an overview of the 309 weapons in our tier list. Players often come across new weapons on their adventure that they’ve never seen before. This is what happened to Reddit user ChiefLeef22.

He posted on Reddit: “Over 500 hours, 2 years, and a bazillion playthroughs later, I see this brand new weapon… this game has infinite content.”

He also posted a picture of the weapon “Monk’s Flameblade”. In English it is called “Monk’s Flameblade”.

The weapon has a base attack value of 134 (physical), does 100 critical damage and initially scales with strength and dexterity by D each. In order to be able to wield the sword at all, you must have invested 18 levels each in strength and dexterity.

The reason the player only discovered the weapon after more than 500 hours is simple: it is very rare. Anyone who wants to get it has to go to a very specific place in the game.

Only one opponent drops the sword

How do you get the weapon? As some commenters under the Reddit post point out, it is not that easy to obtain the sword. It is therefore not surprising that the user ChiefLeef22 found it so late.

The weapon is a drop from the fire monks. But not all of them. Only one of them drops the sword. To do this, you have to go to the “Grave of the Heroic Giant Slayer” on the giants’ mountain peak in the east.

From the mercy, run down the stairs and past the first fire monk. There is a hidden path on the right. Jump down there and ignore the enemies. Then on the right there is a corridor with a flame trap. The monk you are looking for is also there. Kill him and hope that he drops his weapon.

Because the drop chance is low. It is only four percent with a discovery value of 100. This makes the sword one of the rarest weapons in the entire game. Anyone who finds it by pure chance, like the Reddit user, can consider themselves lucky.

How does the community react? ChiefLeef22 had no intention of farming the weapon for an endless amount of time – because he didn’t know it even existed. But other players were definitely looking for it. They wrote in the post:

  • “A single fire monk. In a crypt. Hidden in an alcove. Only one enemy in the entire game drops this weapon, even though many monks wield it. Why?” asks Quelana’s Disciple.
  • “If an enemy uses a weapon, it should be able to be dropped by that enemy,” says Own-Corner-2623, criticizing the fact that the drop is only available from this particular monk.
  • “Miyazaki enjoys our suffering, that’s why it is so,” writes Piltonbadger.
  • “What’s even crazier is that it (the weapon) isn’t very good,” MushroomBeginning520 points out, to which SweedDreams adds, “But it looks cool.”
  • There is disagreement in the community as to whether the drop is good or not. One thing is certain: it is very rare and anyone who gets the weapon can call themselves lucky.

Did you find the weapon in the game, by chance or because you were specifically looking for it? Let us know in the comments. A player at level 1 managed to inflict an impressive 450,000 damage with a single hit.
