A huge park dedicated to the world of the iconic Dragon Ball manga will be created in the middle of the desert…

On March 1, we learned of the death, at the age of 68, of Akira Toriyama, the iconic Japanese mangaka behind Dragon Ball. The manga begun in 1984 which follows the life of Son Goku, a young martial arts prodigy with a monkey’s tail, freely inspired by the traditional Chinese tale The Journey to the West, is one of the best-selling in the world, with more than 260 million copies.

It has since been adapted into a video game and animated series: Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, broadcast in France from 1988 to 1996 in Club Dorothée and today, there are no less than 21 animated films and two sequels to series: Dragon Ball GT and more recently Dragon Ball Super. What if we told you that the adventure didn’t end there? Just a few weeks after the death of Akira Toriyama, a crazy announcement shocked fans around the world.

This colossal project, totally crazy and disproportionate, is yet another proof that the cultural heritage left by the creator of Dragon Ball is not doomed to disappear. Imagine an immense amusement park of 500,000 m² dedicated to the world of manga, planted in the middle of the desert, demarcated into 7 zones like the 7 legendary crystal balls of manga… In the center of the park, the sacred dragon Shenron, immense, stands in front of you at more than 70 meters high, and is home to an impressive whirling roller coaster. A first trailer in computer-generated images of the future park, which will be built in Qiddiya, 40 kilometers from the capital Riyadh entirely dedicated to leisure in Saudi Arabia, was shared on the occasion of this crazy announcement from promoter Qiddiya Investment Company:

Kamehameha! You will enter the reconstruction of the most emblematic places of the manga such as Turtle Island, the Capsule Corporation, the Kamé House or even Planet Beerus. With around thirty rides and “five revolutionary attractions”, but also numerous themed hotels and restaurants where you can taste dishes from the Dragon Ball universe, the Dragon Ball theme park will be the first of its kind in the world and hopes to fulfill the dream of many fans of the cult manga to experience the world of Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Boo, Bulma and all the rest of the clique in real life!

After Ghibli Park or PokéPark in Japan, it is now one of the most famous Japanese licenses that will amaze you. Please note, the opening date of the park has not yet been announced, Dragon Ball fans will have to be patient…
