supporters of Prime Minister Choguel Maiga charge the junta

In Mali, a press release very critical of the junta published on Friday did not go unnoticed, particularly because it came from the M5-RFP, the political movement of Prime Minister Choguel Maïga. The supporters of the head of government are particularly opposed to the possibility of the colonels remaining in power for several more years.

Supporters of the Prime Minister Choguel Maïga united within the M5-RFP (June 5 Movement-Rally of Patriotic Forces) set out in a press release their grievances against the junta. The movement regrets that the ministers from its ranks were almost all removed from the government during the last reshuffle. The only one who remains in post at the Ministry of State Refoundation has no weight within the executive.

The M5-RFP also criticizes the fact that Choguel Maïga and his political supporters were not at all associated with the organization of the last inter-Malian dialogue. They also describe the recommendations of this meeting as “ tendentious “.

Finally, they are opposed to the possibility of keeping the colonels in power for several more years and to their promotion to the rank of general. They are also against opening a dialogue with the jihadists. What remains of the pro-Choguel Maïga also asks the junta to respect “the pact of honor” and to maintain sincere collaboration between civilians and soldiers.

This exit comes at a particular time, because the head of government is in great difficulty. For the moment, he is no longer at the center of the major decisions being made and Bamako is buzzing with rumors of a change of Prime Minister.

The content and length of the press release demonstrates that there is unease.
