The mayor about Tjasiv Jar: “A pure hell”

It took the Russians more than a year to push the mile or so west from Bachmut to Tjasiv Jar. The city is now judged to be high on Russia’s list of important places to conquer.

Ukraine’s military stated this week that several Russian storming attempts at the city were repulsed. They describe the Russian attacks as purposeful and constant.

  • Tjasiv Jar, located on a hill, has been described as strategically important and a central Ukrainian stronghold in the Donetsk region. If the city were to fall into Russian hands, it could serve as a springboard for further attacks on the larger cities of Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk and Slovjansk.
