The new version of the charter signed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré provides for a five-year transition, starting on July 2. The first version of the text which was submitted to the participants proposed “three and a half years”, or 42 months. It will ultimately be much more.

During the debates, hundreds of demonstrators supporting the regime gathered around the conference room and attempted to invade the premises where the work was being held. They wanted a mandate of at least ten years to be granted to Captain Ibrahim Traoré. They were eventually pushed back by security forces.
