In eastern DRC, fighting continues on the fifth day of the resumption of clashes between the FARDC and the M23, supported by Rwanda. The Congolese army is supported by local militias called Wazalendo. This upsurge in hostilities follows an offensive launched by the FARDC on several fronts. Objective: regain control of certain localities in the territories of Masisi and Rutshuru.

In the Rutshuru territory, clashes have been concentrated for three days in the Rwindi region, with detonations still heard on Friday in the Bwito chiefdom.
In Masisi territory, fighting has lasted for five days, particularly on the Bweremana axis, where the FARDC is claiming the recapture of Ndumba hill. Located on the road leading to Bukavu, the area is considered strategic.
In some localities, the M23 is strengthening and setting up so-called community policing to better control urban areas while consolidating its front lines.
These clashes are also worsening the security and humanitarian situation in the neighboring province of South Kivu. The bombings particularly affect the town of Minova and its surroundings, which host tens of thousands of displaced people and remains one of the rare areas still supplying Goma. In Goma, new waves of displaced people fleeing this violence are being observed, with spontaneous sites being formed to accommodate them.
These displaced people are mainly concentrated in the west of Goma, particularly in the Mugunga and Lac Vert districts.
