Fraudsters ask callers to bring over SEK 2,000
Now there has been a further warning. These are fraudsters who claim to be calling from the American payment service Paypal.
It is one of Råd og rönn’s readers who has contacted the newspaper to warn others. According to this, it must have been a hidden number that calls and converses in English.

The fraudster then allegedly said that 199 euros must be deducted from the user’s Paypal account, corresponding to approximately SEK 2,305.
The fraudster will tell the person who wants to cancel the payment to press “1” on the phone’s keypad. If you do this, you are connected to another person who claims to be from Paypal’s customer service.
The call is an attempt to start a fraud and whoever is called by the hidden number is asked not to answer, writes Advice and insights.
Not the first time fraudsters claim to be from Paypal
In November 2023, several were called by a fraudster who invites people to pay exactly 199 euros from their Paypal account.
Although the hoax calls have many similarities, it is still unclear whether the fraudsters are the same in both cases.

That’s what Paypal says
As for Paypal itself, the payment service company has not issued any warning to its customers. On their website, however, they encourage customers to report suspected fraud.
“It is very important that you report any suspected fraud,” says the payment service’s website. The customer is also encouraged to change their password and update their security questions if they suspect ongoing fraud.
