At Amazon *, MediaMarkt * and Saturn * you can get the PlayStation 5 Slim in the Disc Edition currently at its cheapest for just 444 euros. The next best price is 469 euros at Galaxus, so you’re saving a lot. But it’s not just the price that’s attractive, because the PS5 has several advantages over the Xbox competition.
This is what makes the PS5 special
Both the Sony console and its Microsoft competitor offer powerful computing power and great graphics. But they differ significantly in other areas.
The highlights of the PS5 are the innovative Dual Sense controller and the VR glasses PSVR2 (not included, but available from Amazon *). The Dual Sense uses ultra-precise motors to create a rumble function that we have never seen before in a gamepad. For example, it feels different when you race over asphalt or sand in a racing game.
The adaptive trigger provide an additional portion of immersion, because they also react differently depending on what you are doing in the game. For example, if you draw your bow as Lara Croft, you will have noticeably more resistance when pressing the buttons.
PSVR 2: Get it before it’s gone
Sony’s in-house VR glasses catapult you into a completely different world, which, compared to its predecessor, worlds better The Xbox doesn’t have a VR system. On the PC, however, you’ll pay about twice as much to get a decent setup – assuming you have a powerful computer.
And now the bad news: The PSVR 2 is being discontinued. In March, Sony announced that the VR glasses would no longer be produced for the time being. It is currently unclear whether this will change. However, there are a few remaining copies that you can secure.
Why is PSVR 2 being discontinued?
Despite really exciting technology, there were too few highlights that could convince players and the entry-level price was more than lavish. There are still some gaming gems and they are definitely worth it: the sci-fi adventure Horizon: Call of the Mountain (available in the PS Store), the zombie shooter Arizona Sunshine 2 (available in the PS Store), the horror masterpiece Resident Evil Village * and the long-running racing game Gran Turismo 7 * are just a few examples.
The best way to determine whether the PS VR2 is really worth it for you is to look at the games available. If you wait a little longer, you might even get a better deal if Sony decides to get the last copies out to people a little faster.
