What is the game about? You are the eponymous Duck Detective and are always called when there is an unsolved case. As befits a genuine cliché detective, the Duck Detective is of course divorced and gets a little too drunk every night.
Nevertheless, it is always used when there is a big mystery to solve – for example, how someone could steal lunch from an office.
Although the graphics are quite cute, the characters in the story take the incident quite seriously.
This is what the gameplay looks like: During the game, you explore several offices and talk to the employees who are affected by the mysterious incident (of course, they are all animals). Little by little, you collect new information to reconstruct the various incidents and the relationships between the characters.
You have to look at your notes every now and then and fill in the blanks with the relevant keywords in order to ultimately draw the right conclusions (“de-duck-tions”) and hopefully be able to convict the perpetrator in the end.
What are the reviews like? So far, Duck Detective: The Secret Salami has received extremely positive reviews. 97% of the ratings are positive, but there are only 200 reviews so far – the game is still quite new (as of May 24, 2024, 11:30 a.m.). The voice actors in particular are praised, but also the general charm of the game.
How much does the game cost? Duck Detective currently costs under 9 euros on Steam and has a playing time of around 2-3 hours – depending on how quickly and efficiently you work. So it’s the perfect game to snack on in an evening – just like a stolen salami.
