Norfolk police blotter: Spousal assaults, threats, impaired driving, thefts

Norfolk OPP charged three people with spousal assault in separate incidents that occurred over the Victoria Day long weekend.

Police were sent to a Norfolk County address at about 8:16 am May 18 to investigate a disturbance. Upon arrival, police determined that two people had been involved in a dispute and one had been physically assaulted.

No injuries were reported and one person was taken into custody.

Police have charged a 37-year-old Norfolk man with spousal assault and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On May 19 at 1:54 pm, police were dispatched to a Norfolk County address to investigate a report of a dispute. One person was physically assaulted while the other was taken into custody without incident, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Police have charged a 42-year-old Norfolk County man with spousal assault. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.

Police say two people were involved in a fracas and one was physically assaulted. One individual was taken into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported.

A 34-year-old Norfolk County woman has been charged with spousal assault.

Man accused of uttering threats

A 44-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with resisting arrest and uttering threats following a May 19 incident.

Police were dispatched to a Bertha Street address in Simcoe at about 11:34 am Sunday. Upon arrival, police determined that two people had become embroiled in an argument.

One person threatened the other before fleeing the area on foot, said police.

A suspect was later apprehended by police and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Three face impaired driving charges

Three people are facing drinking and driving charges after being arrested by Norfolk OPP in separate incidents over the long weekend.

Police stopped a vehicle on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe at 3:12 am May 19. Following a roadside sobriety test, the driver was arrested.

Police have charged a 36-year-old East York man with having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit, having care or control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available and failing to stop for a red light.

At about 5:39 pm May 19, police responded to a 911 call about a possible impaired driver on Norfolk Street South in Simcoe.

Police found the vehicle at a Norfolk Street South address and arrested the driver following a roadside sobriety test.

A 28-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with driving impaired – alcohol and drugs, driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood and driving with an open container of liquor.

At about 2:25 pm May 20, Norfolk OPP officers responded to a 911 call about a possible impaired driver on Turkey Point Road.

The officer found a vehicle on Highway 3 in Delhi and arrested the driver following a roadside sobriety test.

A 24-year-old Oxford County man has been charged with dangerous driving and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Vehicle stolen

Norfolk OPP are appealing to the public for assistance in locating two stolen vehicles and identifying those responsible for the theft.

The first theft was reported to police at 5:17 am May 19 after a white 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pick up truck was taken from a St. John’s Road East address in Woodhouse.

Police determined the vehicle was taken sometime overnight.

A day later, at about 3:45 am May 20, Norfolk OPP investigated the theft of a black 2007 Mercedes-Benz B200 sedan from an Adams Avenue address in Delhi.

Police determined the vehicle was stolen sometime between 6 pm May 19 and 12:30 am May 20.

Riding lawn mower theft

A riding lawn mower was stolen from a Nelson Street East address in Port Dover, Norfolk OPP say.

Police were alerted to the theft at 1:15 pm May 18 and determined the theft took place sometime overnight on May 17 to May 18.

The lawn mower is a green and yellow John Deere Z345R zero-turn mower with a 42-inch cutting deck.
