Clinking in the city coffers after Swift’s concerts

According to calculations from the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, Stockholm may have benefited with profits of half a billion kroner after music phenomenon Taylor Swift’s visit to Sweden.

Much because many fans, or “swifties”, travel long distances to save money in Sweden.

  • Above all, it concerns a large number of Americans who particularly benefit from lower ticket prices and the low value of the krone.

    Economists worry about rising inflation

Some economists are now worried about how the weekend’s extra income could affect Sweden’s inflation, something that is not likely according to the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

    – If you look at the items that Taylor Swift can influence in the CPI that deals with inflation, they are less than one percent of the measure as a whole, says Carl Bergkvist, chief economist at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.
