As recently as January, she was sentenced to 15 months in prison for another misdemeanor with the same criminal classification. Narges Mohammadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last year for her work for women’s rights in Iran. She has opposed the oppression of women, the compulsion to wear the veil and the state’s violent and repressive methods. For that, she has been sentenced to several prison sentences and subjected to numerous whippings. She is currently incarcerated in the infamous Evin Prison in Tehran. The punishment amounts to a total of twelve years and three months in prison, 154 lashes and various social and political restrictions.
