Next year still looks reasonably bright for sports organizations.
A few weeks ago, in the government’s framework crisis, it was decided to accelerate the cuts in government subsidies agreed in the government program as part of the recovery of the economy. In addition, additional savings of 25 million were allocated to the sector of the Ministry of Education and Culture for next year.
The decisions made have caused a lot of discussion and also fear among the sports community. However, the year 2025 still looks reasonably bright for sports organizations.
– When we received this information about the frame riot, it caused quite a lot of challenges and questions on the field. We have already made it known in the past that the cuts are so big that the cheese grater no longer works, but in the future, structural reforms must be made in the entire industry, says the Minister of Sports, Sports and Youth Sandra Bergqvist.
It is not yet clear where exactly the cuts will be targeted. Minister Bergqvist hopes to be ready before the summer holidays, but no later than right after them. However, certain guidelines are clear.
– In the ministry, we also have to think about how these cuts will be targeted in the future. That’s how much we’ve decided that we’re not planning any cuts to the basic funding of sports organizations for next year. In this way, we want to give organizations peace of mind so that they can focus on the important work they are doing.
The decision gives sports organizations an additional year to adapt and think about both their future and finances and thus prepare for the time from 2026 onwards.
