Every year, the AutoIndex survey is carried out, which aims to find out which is the best car brand in Sweden.
Historically, Japanese car brands have always scored the highest in the survey, but this year is different. Instead, it is the German Mercedes-Benz that takes the top spot.
The survey is carried out by We Car Owners and Loyalty Group.

The car owners answer around 200 questions
The survey is based on Swedish car owners having to answer around 200 questions about their car ownership.
A total of 12,766 car owners responded this year, assessing 23 different car brands that have sold over a certain number of cars between the 2020 and 2023 model years.
The cars are judged within the four categories Car, Loyalty, Sales and Workshop.

Mercedes-Benz this year’s winner
Mercedes-Benz claimed first place in the Car and Loyalty categories, and also beat all other premium brands in the Sales category.

In second place we find Honda, closely followed by Subaru and Toyota in a shared third place. Volvo grabbed fifth place, followed by BMW, Hyundai and Tesla.

Fiat, Seat and Opel at the bottom
If we look at the other end of the list, we find the worst car brands in Sweden, and here Fiat stands out with by far the lowest score. After that, Seat, Opel and Ford follow.
Citroën, Audi and Seat are the three brands that have lost the most in terms of rating, while Volvo, Mitsubishi and Hyundai have climbed the most.
Last year’s winner was Subaru, whose rating this year dropped by 2.7 percent, which this year was enough for third place.
The car model that received the best rating overall was the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
