Erik “Gronkh” Range is one of the biggest streamers on German Twitch. A deal for the vampire game V Rising would have made the streamer a lot of money, but he turned it down and preferred to play with a black kitten.
What kind of deal was that? In his stream on May 12, 2024, Gronkh revealed that he had an offer to show the survival game V Rising the previous Friday. It left early access on May 8th, which was accompanied by a hefty price increase.
Gronkh says he could have made “really a lot of money” from just a two-hour stream on V-Rising. But he canceled and instead caused chaos as a cute cat in Little Kitty, Big City. He’s just a real businessman, Gronkh explained with a laugh.

Why did Gronkh refuse? As Gronkh explains, he was only supposed to show V Rising for two hours for the collaboration. That actually sounds like a good deal: a lot of money for comparatively little work. However, the Twitch streamer says he has already played V Rising in early access – and two hours are simply not enough.
“I think playing V Rising for just two hours isn’t enough. You have to play it for a lot longer. I didn’t want to show you two hours of a game that should have been a lot longer.”

How did the cat adventure go for Gronkh? Little Kitty, Big City probably didn’t mean the big money for Gronkh that V Rising had lured with. He can still count the evening as a success: With an average of 21,449 simultaneous viewers, the stream was the second strongest of the last 30 days for Gronkh (via SullyGnome).
As one of the largest German Twitch streamers, he can probably get over the rejected deal. One reason for this continued success may also be that Gronkh, as in this case, puts his fans’ viewing experience above making quick money through a deal.
Fans of Gronkh probably don’t have to worry about his financial security: The streamer has accepted a deal to show Destiny 2’s upcoming big update, The Final Shape, in advance.
Meanwhile, V Rising was able to get off to a strong start even without the support of Gronkh. The vampire game climbed the Steam charts and gave some of its genre colleagues a lot of competition.
