It was in January 2023 as the discus thrower Daniel Ståhl and the shot putter Fanny Roos came out that they were a couple officially by going to the Sports Gala together.

Fanny Roos unexpected call to the coach
But even before that, the couple had revealed their relationship to the future athletics coach Staffan Jonsson in Malmö, writes The Express.
After Vesteinn Hafsteinsson ended as throwing coach in Sweden, both Fanny Roos and Daniel Ståhl were without a coach. That prompted Roos to call Jönsson and ask a question:
– Can you make me bump 20 meters in Paris?
The conversation continued for a while before she ended by saying:
– By the way, that also applies to Daniel.
The conversation puzzled the trainer at first, before the chip fell down.
– Why did she call me about Ståhl? I didn’t understand anything, says Staffan Jönsson.

In Expressen, Daniel Ståhl tells that the process of moving and changing coaches was a shock for everyone, but remembers the conversation with pleasure.
– She said it with a twinkle in her eye. And that was quite rightly said too. She competes for MAI and Staffan is an MAI coach, says Ståhl.
