Even before Denis Villeneuve brought his first Dune film to the big screen, extensive plans were being made to further expand Frank Herbert’s epic sci-fi world for the moving image. Warner and HBO secured the rights to the material for a prequel series called Dune: Prophecy, which takes place around 10,000 years before the events of Dune and Dune: Part Two. After five years of waiting, the first trailer has now been released – and with it a start date.

Sci-fi series Dune: Prophecy is really coming after 5 years
About 10,000 years before the events of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), two Harkonnen sisters join forces to defend themselves against the dark forces of the galaxy. They found it together Sisterhood of the Bene Gesseritwho use spiritual strength and deliberate manipulation to begin crossing bloodlines to one day create a messiah with unique powers.
The series is loosely based on the novel The Throne of the Desert Planet, written by Kevin J. Anderson and Frank Herbert’s son Brian Herbert. Be in the series Emily Watson and Olivia Williams take on the main roles of the two Harkonnen sisters, Valya and Tula. The sci-fi series also stars Jodhi May, Mark Strong and Tabu, among others.
