A very select event, the Cannes Film Festival is however open to film buffs from all over France with opportunities not to be missed if you want to follow the event, even without being on the Croisette.
Glitter, crackling paparazzi, stars and above all highly anticipated films. Every year, the Cannes Film Festival makes millions of film fans dream. And the 2024 edition, which takes place from May 14 to 25, 2024, is no exception to the rule. If some can go directly to the Croisette and fully enjoy the event and its side effects, this is unfortunately not the case for all cinema lovers in France. But don’t panic, there are solutions to follow (partly) the big moments of the biggest film festival.
First of all, television and streaming remain your essential tools for following the opening and closing ceremonies live. These are broadcast on May 14 at 7 p.m. and May 25 at 6:45 p.m. on France 2, Brut and france.tv. Many cinemas also broadcast it throughout France, followed in the wake of the opening film, The second act by Quentin Dupieux, which comes out this Tuesday evening. The opportunity to discover this comedy at the same time as the festival-goers present at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
The second act is not the only film screened at the Cannes Film Festival to be released in cinemas during this period. Furiosa by Georges Miller is released in cinemas in France on May 22, a week after its preview screening on the Croisette. Marcello Mio by Christophe Honoré with Chiara Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve, will be on view at the same time as its presentation in Cannes, on Tuesday May 21. France Télévision will also broadcast the short film Me too by Judith Godrèche, at the end of the Cannes Film Festival.
In addition, several cinemas offer film revivals. The Pathé cinemas offer in Paris (Opéra Premier), Rennes, Nantes (Gaumont), Lyon (Pathé Bellecour) and Toulouse (Pathé Wilson) the opportunity to discover certain feature films in competition from May 24 to 26, 2024. For the moment, neither The list of films broadcast on this occasion and the screening times are not known, but movie buffs can discover it in a few days on the official Pathé website. It is recommended to reserve your places in advance. In June, it will be possible to discover certain films presented in the parallel sections.

On the program: photocalls, stair climbs, but also press conferences are broadcast live.
