A short-lived possession for the king

The king used his BMW 635 CSi to drive around the rest of the royal family, but it wasn’t long before his majesty realized that three children was too much for the elegant coupe.

In October 1985, he traded in his 635 CSi for a specially ordered BMW M5, which was more family friendly.

The car has a straight six-cylinder engine of 197 horsepower that goes down the hill via the rear wheels and a five-speed manual box.

Well cared for BMW

The new owner had the car for a full 32 years, but didn’t drive it very much.

At the time of writing, the car has driven approximately 21,000 miles, equivalent to 500 miles a year.

In 2022 it was sold to a private person in Falkenberg and now it is for sale at a dealer.

The asking price is SEK 240,000, which, regardless of provenance, is in line with what you can expect from a 635 CSi in similar condition.

This BMW 635 CSi with royal clutch is said to be well documented and in good condition, with the exception of a tear in the plush upholstery on the driver’s side.

Royalist indeed

As for the king’s other BMW cars over the years, you can find a number of fast pieces, including the BMW M3 CSL and BMW M5, while today he drives a bright blue BMW M8 that he has owned for a few years.

The king has also driven cars from Ferrari, Jeep, Porsche, Volvo and Mercedes.

If you want a BMW with royal provenance, just in time for the summer get-togethers, now is your chance.
