Charlotte Baris: For months, we have only talked about the Paris Olympics in negative terms. It seems like everything is done to spoil the party. And if finally, the Olympic and Paralympic Games happened… GOOD ? History is full of flawless games – despite a few false starts and colossal challenges. So throughout the week, we wonder how to succeed in our Olympics.

Dear listeners, do you know that the motto of the Olympic Games had changed before the Tokyo Olympics? Everyone knows the original leitmotif: “Citius, altius, fortius” in Latin which can be translated as “Faster, higher, stronger”. A very famous formula which dates from 1894, when the Olympic Games were created around Pierre de Coubertin. It did not evolve for more than a century, until the 138th session of the International Olympic Committee in the summer of 2021.

From now on, we must say “Citius-altius-fortius… Communitere. That is to say “Faster, higher, stronger – together”. It is therefore the solidarity that the IOC wanted to enshrine in its charter. And perhaps that in in the years to come, will be added to the motto “virdius”, greener. As you can imagine, ecology is taking an increasingly important place in the organization of the latest Olympic Games. place great emphasis on sobriety.
