Christoph Waltz, the Austrian in Hollywood, is not only working together with director icon Quentin Tarantino. He also appeared twice as Bond villain Blofeld in the 007 films with Daniel Craig. But Specter and No Time to Die were not the first and only James Bond projects in which the double Oscar winner appeared.

Back in 1966, John Pearson published a biography of the Bond inventor entitled The Life of Ian Fleming. This was followed in 1989 with Goldeneye – The Man Who Was James Bond, the film adaptation about the real life of Ian Fleming, which influenced his later 007 works. Because the creator of James Bond was also a spy.
In real life, Fleming took part in the Allied espionage project Operation Goldeneye, which was intended to sound out the relationship between the Spanish Franco dictatorship and the Axis powers during the Second World War. For the biopic, which is about how Fleming is hired and trained by the Royal Navy, the later Game of Thrones star Charles Dance took on the role. Unfortunately, Christoph Waltz only got involved as a nameless German spy – and at that time he was already facing “Bond” as an antagonist.
