Every week of the year, Oskar Kihlborg, who is part of the association Hands 2 Ocean, dives to clean Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea of debris. So far, they have found 1,300 electric scooters, 16 tons of car batteries and soon 100 tons of car tires.
– Sometimes we find some fun things like drugs, weapons and a safe, says Oskar.
It’s not uncommon for there to be glitter on the bottom when you dive, but often it’s caps or other debris. Sometimes Oskar is also contacted by people who have dropped jewelery on the bottom when they have been swimming.
– But this is the first time I have found a gold ring unannounced. I felt a bit like Gollum in “The Lord of the Rings”, he says.
“Forever your Veronica”
Now Oskar is looking for the owner of the ring, the ring that he found while diving in Lake Mälaren outside Lidingö in Stockholm.
– This story can have several endings, he says.
In the ring it says “Forever your Veronica” and a date that Oskar can reveal is before the turn of the millennium.
– Hopefully someone has dropped it while it was swimming, but it could also be that someone got pissed off at Veronica and threw it into the lake.
Then you get the ring back
If you recognize yourself in the description and want to get in touch with Oskar, you can email nyhetsmorgon@Sweden news. However, in order to get the ring back, you need to know a few details about it.
– It would be nice if you had a date, you should keep track of that, and know where on Lidingö you lost it, he says.
If Oskar doesn’t find the ring’s owner, he will eventually turn it in to the police, but he hopes it won’t be necessary.
– I would be delighted to return the ring to its rightful owner, says Oskar Kihlborg.
