Do you have the soul of a private detective and you absolutely want to track someone without them knowing? It’s possible, by tweaking your WhatsApp application a little.
Knowing someone’s geographical position without them being aware of our approach is an often shared desire, but few people really dare to put this idea into practice, or simply do not know how to go about it. However, it is tempting to follow a contact, out of simple curiosity, to be reassured or to verify statements or an alibi. So, advice to budding detectives! If you want to secretly locate your child, your spouse or any other person, without them knowing, here are the steps to follow, which require the use of a computer.
So, how can you discreetly locate a person via WhatsApp? On your computer, start by closing all open applications that you do not need by going to “Task Manager”, so that only WhatsApp is open. Log in to WhatsApp Web, on a browser, and start a conversation with the person you want to geolocate (and only that contact). Press the Windows key located at the bottom left of the spacebar + the R key at the same time to open the “Run” function, then type “cmd” and press the Enter key. If you have a Mac, then you will need to open the “Terminal” application.
Then type “netstat-an” and press Enter to validate. This way, all the IP addresses connected to your computer should be displayed, including that of the person you want to locate at the moment, since you have just started a chat with them. Then go to the ipinfo.io website to see where this IP address is located.
Please note, you will only be able to have an approximate location such as the city or region corresponding to this IP address. So don’t expect to get a precise address, but this is sometimes enough to know where our contact is on WhatsApp without them having voluntarily shared their geolocation.
