Three were taken to hospital

The three friends were sitting on the balcony and were going to watch Eurovision.

But suddenly the balcony of the apartment in Ulricehamn collapsed and the evening ended in the hospital.

– Suddenly we found ourselves on the concrete between broken glass, one of the women tells Aftonbladet.

The plans for the evening were ready.

The three friends were to have dinner and then spend the rest of the evening – like many others – watching the Eurovision smash hit.

But it never turned out that way.

Just before 7 p.m., the three women were sitting outside on one of their friends’ balconies in an apartment building in Ulricehamn. Early summer had reached Western Sweden.

But suddenly the balcony collapsed.

Now one of the women from the hospital tells us.

– We were three friends who sat on the balcony and drank some bubbly. We would have dinner and afterwards we would watch Eurovision together, says the woman to Aftonbladet.

“He didn’t react”

The woman says that it all happened very quickly and before they could even think, all three were on the ground.

– There was no crack or anything. It happened very quickly and we didn’t have time to react. It doesn’t crack and there was nothing strange and suddenly everything opens up. Suddenly we were on the concrete between shards of glass, says the woman.

The women fell almost three meters straight into the ground.

All three remained in hospital on Sunday and the injuries have been assessed as serious for two of the women.

– I feel relatively well. I’m in a bit of pain everywhere, but I’m not the one who was hurt the most, says one of the women.

It is unclear why the balcony collapsed

The woman says that they had to shout before they finally got help. All were awake and talkative when taken to hospital.

It is still unclear why the balcony collapsed. In connection with the incident, the property was cordoned off and a few hours later there was still a risk of landslides at the house.

The police drew up a report of causing bodily harm in order to investigate the incident. There is no suspect.

Aftonbladet has searched for the property owner without success.
