Police remove protesters at Malmö Arena

– New groups have joined now. It’s an extremely fierce atmosphere, she says a few minutes into the final.

  • According to the police, there is an unauthorized demonstration in connection with the train station.

    – It is demonstrators from Dagvattenparken who have moved there. They are now being moved back, sometimes we lift and even carry people away, says Jimmy Modin, spokesperson for the police.

One of those lifted away is the activist Greta Thunberg.

    Has there been any violence?

    – We fully understand that it can be perceived as noisy or violent. But no one from our staff perceives it as violent. They are simply moved to where they are authorized to be.

SVT’s reporter Gunilla Fritze is on site in the frenzy and describes how the audience queuing to get into the arena gets insults thrown at them.

    – People standing in line have been met with “Shame on you” and some are of course badly affected by it.

    Train traffic was stopped

For about 30 minutes, trains were not allowed to stop at the station in Hyllie at the request of the police. At 8:40 p.m., the trains stopped again.

    – We stopped the trains to stop the influx of people to the station. This was only temporary and everything is back to normal, says Jimmy Modin.
