While German MMORPG is blocked in one country, it is setting records on Steam

The German MMORPG Albion Online continues to benefit from the launch of the new server in Europe. While developer Sandbox Interactive can look forward to player records on Steam, there is a serious problem in one country.

What records has Albion Online achieved? Since the launch of the first European server for Albion Online on April 29, 2024, an increasing number of players have been playing in the eponymous fantasy world of Albion. Steam’s new peak is 27,208 concurrently active players.

More than 20,000 players are currently logged into Albion Online almost around the clock every day via Valve’s distribution platform. There are also players who use the normal Windows/Linux client or the mobile versions. It should only be a matter of time before the Berlin developers publish an official success report on the launch of the EU server.

There is even a separate trailer for the Albion Online EU server:

Current problems: A country is blocking Albion Online

What serious problem is there? In the MMORPG’s official forum this week, the developers explained that they are currently working to resolve some difficulties that are somewhat clouding the successful launch of the EU server.

Particularly noteworthy is the following message: “Albion is blocked in Indonesia. We have contacted the Indonesian authorities to clarify the situation. While the solution is being worked on, you can log in with a VPN. After entering the game, the VPN service can be turned off.”

A problem that led to increased crashes on mobile devices has already been resolved. Update the MMORPG via your store to install the corresponding hotfix.

What sets the MMORPG apart? Albion Online is a sandbox MMORPG set in an open, medieval fantasy world. The game features a classless combat system as well as a player-driven economic system in which almost every item is crafted by players.

Thanks to numerous updates, there is now a wide range of content for soloists, fans of small groups and players who prefer to plunge into large battles. Join a guild, build a guild hall and conquer entire cities, which then have to pay you taxes.

However, you might be put off by the old-fashioned fights and the colorful, outdated graphics. If you’re looking for another MMORPG to spend your time in: The best new MMORPGs of the last 5 years on Steam
