According to Israeli employees, the military facility is divided into two: closed areas where Palestinians brought from Gaza are kept, and a field hospital where the wounded lie tied to beds. In the images shared with CNN by employees at the facility, it was seen that the detained Palestinians were kept in areas surrounded by barbed wire, were forced to sit on paper-thin mattresses and were blindfolded.
THEY CUT OFF HIS LIMBS DUE TO HANDCUFF WOUNDS
While one of the employees stated that the detained Palestinians were forbidden to talk to each other, he also stated that doctors amputated the limbs of some of those injured due to constant handcuffing, and that some medical procedures were performed by inexperienced or non-expert medics.
Stating that the guards were instructed to single out and punish people who were allegedly “causing trouble”, an employee said, “We were told that they (Palestinians) were not allowed to move or speak. They had to sit upright at all times.” said.
“THEY TOOK OUT THEIR HUMANITY”
An employee working as a paramedic at “Sde Teiman” also described the situation in the facility’s field hospital.
Stating that the injured wore diapers, lay tied to beds and were fed through straws, the Israeli health official said, “They (the Palestinians) took their humanity away from them.” said.
Another employee said that he was ordered to perform medical procedures on Palestinians, often without using anesthesia, and said, “I performed minor medical procedures on patients that were completely outside my expertise.” he said.
“I WITNESSED THE TREATMENT AND HUMILIATE BEHAVIOR OF PEOPLE”
Doctor Mohammed al-Ran, one of the Palestinians detained by Israel and sent to one of the detention centers, explained that he was trying to survive in the scorching heat of the desert and the coldness of the nights.
Al-Ran, who worked in the surgical unit of the Indonesian Hospital, which was closed as a result of Israeli attacks, stated that he was detained on December 18, 2023, the third day of working at Al-Ehli Baptist Hospital.
Al-Ran noted that they were stripped of their clothes, their eyes and wrists were tied, then they were thrown into the back of a truck and the nearly naked Palestinians were piled on top of each other to be taken to the facility.
Al-Ran, who was held in the detention center for 44 days, said: “I witnessed the treatment of people when they took off my blindfold, their humiliating behavior, how they saw us as animals, not humans.” he said.
27 PALESTINIANS DIED DUE TO TORTURE
Israeli newspaper Haaretz wrote in March that 27 of the Palestinians detained by Israel since October 7 died in military facilities, and many were subjected to beatings, ill-treatment and harassment.
In the newspaper’s report, it was stated that Palestinians detained by Israeli forces died during interrogations at the military facilities named “Sde Teiman” and “Anatot” or at the Israeli borders.
UNRWA: PALESTINIANS HELD IN ISRAEL’S DETENTION CENTERS ARE EXPOSED TO MALTREATMENT
In the report of the United Nations (UN) Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) published in March, it was reported that Palestinians held in Israeli detention centers were subjected to very bad treatment such as beatings and sexual assault.
It was noted that the methods of ill-treatment reported in the report included behaviors such as beating, threats to harm detainees and their families, dog attacks, insulting and humiliating the dignity of the person, deprivation of water, food, sleep and toilet, and urinating on detainees.
