The American TV channel CBS is mainly known for one thing: crime series. It’s not just them here popular series franchises NCIS and FBI but also the action hit SWAT and the police drama Blue Bloods. Now CBS has decided the fate of numerous series for the coming TV season.
Every year in May, the largest TV channels in the USA present their programs for the coming TV season at the so-called Upfronts event. This year the series plans are influenced by special circumstances. The 2023 Hollywood strikes resulted in numerous delays and shortened seasons. Some broadcasters only had a few weeks or episodes to decide the fate of series.

Whole 12 series have made it into the coming TV season. CBS continues to place a particularly high level of trust in the flagship of the FBI universe, whose parent series has been renewed for three more seasons.
The biggest surprise However, it is the extension of the action series SWAT, which streams as a subscription in Germany on WOW (7 seasons) and Netflix (5 seasons). Last year, after loud fan outcry, the broadcaster revised its cancellation after 6 seasons and commissioned a final season. This is not the finale after all and there will be an 8th season to follow.

Same 7 series innovations are in the starting blocks at CBS. A Matlock reboot and a sitcom starring Damon Wayans were already commissioned in 2023 and were saved for the next TV season due to the Hollywood strikes. The following series have been ordered and will soon be added to CBS’ programming:
NCIS fans can look forward to two new spin-offs. While the story of young Leroy Gibbs starts on CBS in the fall, the first spin-off set in Europe will be shown on the Paramount+ streaming service.
Unfortunately, it is not yet clear when and where the remaining new series will be broadcast in Germany. Since The Big Bang universe was previously hosted by ProSieben in this country, the Young Sheldon sequel series could also be shown there.
